Yew & Blue Waterfall Desk
The brief
Founder of By Charles, Charles Williams, made this desk to advance his skills beyond traditional table-making. He wanted to incorporate resin, not only for its look, but also to save timber that would otherwise have been burnt. He chose blue resin to represent falling water, along with complementary pinks, reds and purples to set it off. The Waterfall Desk is currently on long-term loan at a stately home in the south of England.
The base
Charles made this piece into a waterfall using that part as one of the legs.
The reaction
“That’s exactly what we wanted… those colours, just look at that detail. I love the texture of the oak.” – Client
